A Super Spring Classic

Scratch another one off the bucket list!

On Saturday I ran the 5km Spring Classic hosted by Centennial Christian School. Another fantastic event in every way possible! I even finished 4th overall and won another Masters' title (40+ age group). I was leading the race for probably a kilometer and a half! Ultimately I went out too fast, but I accomplished my goal for the day - break 20 minutes. My finishing time was 19:52. Not too bad for an old guy, but I gotta tell you - it's getting tougher and tougher to keep up with these kids! Congrats to all but especially winners Luke Block, Adrienne Kaul and Derek Flynn.

None of that has anything to do with my bucket list accomplishment.

For reasons I couldn't really tell you, I've always wanted to race in a costume! As you can see in the photo above, I dressed as Superman. The phony upper body muscles acted like a sail in the wind. The scratchy material chafed my nipples. And it was HOT. But I was happy to do it and hopefully brought a little something to the party while doing so.

Expect a lot of big announcements this week on the Skeena Valley Runners Facebook page!
